Safety Project –Environmental Monitoring

Description of the work
The project foresees the arrival of the high speed line from Bologna to Firenze-Castello station, the subsequent bypass of
Viale XI Agosto, the construction of the line underground in the Firenze-Rifredi area, the transiting of the new high speed station in the Belfiore area and its emergence at the Campo di Marte station, after crossing the city underground.

The project in which ambiente is involved, regards the realization of the high speed Bypass, the rail pass over in the Rifredi area and of the high speed station. It also implied the setting up of sites for the necessary works during the realisation of the tunnels that will allow the future high speed line to go under Florence:

• The doubling of the Mugnone torrent bypass;
• The launch shaft of the boring machines;
• The construction and north ventilation shaft;
• The south constructive shaft;
• The ventilation shafts;
• Consolidation of some constructions and the al pino bridge;
• Consolidation of the fortress da basso bastions;

Articulation of activities

ambiente s.c. was involved by the company NODAVIA in the management and execution of this complex infrastructure contract. The activities performed included the study of the site and the collection of baseline information in order to draft the environmental plan. For elaborating the study, numerical models for each environmental element (water, air, soil, waste, acoustic component, vibrations). were employed. In this step a three-dimensional Eulerian model (ADMS-Urban) with different levels was used; each level corresponded to a specific space-time scale;

The Security and Coordination Plan was carried out by splitting the project into Work Breakdown Structures. With this approach it was possible to identify the risks and relative prevention measures inherent to the construction works and the ones related to internal and external interferences of the project.

ambiente s.c. successfully worked with the commissioner and the general contractor throughout the approval process, during the meetings of the environmental monitoring body, and the technical meetings with the control boards.
